Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! The Wright Family has eased slowly in 2026, reflecting more than hitting the pavement. 2025 was full of changes, the biggest being the birth of our daughter, Laurel. Cheers to Sixteen Years
Today marks our 16th wedding anniversary. Even after all this time, I can recall the excitement and joy of that day. Surrounded by my closest friends and family, I was giddy throughout the day’s preparation, longing for one moment — when the double doors at the back of the church opened and I saw Kip…
the late winter storm
Yesterday, the winds blew hard
against the siding of the house.
I awoke to swirly, noisy beating sounds,
the panes of glass creaking against
the weight of the world.
To make sense of things, I write.
Well, it’s been a minute. I won’t pretend to have the type of readership that demands an explanation for my absence, but considering it’s been nigh on three years since my last published post, I thought a brief re-introduction might be necessary. The pushing of my body clears my mind and I find myself breathing out stress with each repetition.

These are not theoretical concepts if we are saved by the blood of Jesus and brought into His family. They are tangible gifts of grace, enabling us to rise above the noise of this world, to a place that is peaceable, gentle, and for each one of us.
The Beauty of Death
Only when we are connected to our Creator can death become beautiful. Through the death of Christ, everything is made new. Because of His death and resurrection, all of creation will be restored, including ourselves.
The Pose of Stillness
As we experienced recently, sometimes it is in stillness, even stillness that one doesn’t choose, where we experience the vastness of God’s power. In rest, He is still working. He is still holding us, holding everything.
What Will Make Me Happy?
Though I know things don’t make me happy, sometimes I still fall into the trap of believing that they will; And other times it is still other things that easily become the focus of my attention. For example, seeking the approval of other people or wanting to impress them, or focusing on achievement and productivity are very common places for my heart to drift.
